As some of you may of read in the general hardware section I've been somewhat outraged at my 4500M IGPU, on paper its a OK laptop chip that again on paper (10 unified pipelines) should be capable of playing older games with good FPS, yet it doesn't. So I've taken up arms and modded some intel drivers:D What I've actually done is taken the latest Intel drivers meant for the latest i5 and i7 CPUs with on-die IGPU and modded them to work with laptop IGPUs. The performance improvement. Is nothing short of staggering.
Here is what I used to score with the following configuration: T7700 (2.4GHz Dual Core, 4MB cache) 2x2GB PC6400 5-5-5-15 4500M Windows Experience Index score for Desktop and 3D gaming with the latest vanilla intel drivers (2413) were 3.6 and 3.3, respectively. (Sorry no SS forgot to take one) With my modified 2413 drivers Desktop and 3D gaming scores are 3.6 and 4.1! As can be seen here; Modded 4500 Driver for Win7 & Vista 64bit (Based on latest 2869 driver, last driver I'll make. 3DM06 score with these is 925pts, I doubt these drivers are getting any better without somebody addressing the issues you can read about in the readme file. 6 3D marks would be within margin of error, wouldn't it? Anyway, what were the old drivers scoring?
Aug 01, 2016 It does not need a separate driver for the GMA 3150 - just download and go! Has a new interface and Installer - please test and give feedback. Sans Frontier driver won't display 16:9 aspect ratios, it appears to be a common problem with modded drivers. Regular intel drivers won't display the 1600x900 resolution, but after some research.
Good stuff btw, very impressive. When it comes to intel IGP, 6 points is actually a very very very small gain and not a fluke.
If I remember correctly, vanilla 2413s scored 740pts in 3D06. I've just finished some more driver tweaks, check this screen out, none too shabby looking for a 4500M;) I'm working on trying to get to 1100-1200pts in 3DM06.
That'll be a truely maxxed out result for a 4500M, I'd love to see some 4500MHD or 4700MHD 3DM06 results when I release the revised driver (currently ver.2.1). Full readme for rev 2.2 2413 modded driver; Changelog: Modified Intel GMA X4500M / MHD Driver - For Win7 64bit - Based on Intel 2413 driver - Increased maximum allowable allocated memory for IGP from 512MB 1GB - Reduced DP Detection delay from 1000ms to 750ms - Reduced HDMI Detection delay from 1000ms to 750ms - Added experimental HDMI Over/Underscan support - Added Intel Control Center from desktop 2462 driver - Increased default video memory from 128MB to 192MB - By default, 'On Battery' and 'Plugged In' power options are set to 'Balance' - Improved Vertex Processing by around 10%. Improved Pixel Shader processing by around 30%.
(32FPS avg vs. Updated INF for rev 2.2 driver. Added experimental / better support for; HKR, 3DMark05.exe HKR, age3.exe HKR, BF2.exe HKR, BF2142.exe HKR, cod2sps.exe HKR, cod2mps.exe HKR, farcry.exe HKR, GRAW.exe HKR, gtasa.exe HKR, H5GAME.exe HKR, JustCause.exe HKR, IW3SP.exe HKR, MAINAPP.exe HKR, medieval2.exe HKR, PCMark05.exe HKR, LEGOIndy.exe HKR, Oblivion.exe HKR, OblivionLauncher.exe HKR, XR3DA.exe HKR, tropico3.exe Just extract the INF to the 'Graphics' folder of the rev 2.2 drivers and run the installer. Hey Ket I was reading this and am very interested I have a 4500mhd intell integrated graphics card, however I saw that your link was bad and do not have a new one yet, I wanna try this so I can play Guild Wars 2 with a better fps, also I'm not 100% sure on how you edit your drivers, anyhow what I'm asking for is maybe a good explanation or you can show how, with a video or some pics, I think it would help more people access your tweaks to give you feed back.
Your thread whole reason I became a member on this forum btw. Feel free to msg me at [email protected]. I have a driver I'm playing around with, its kind of a hybrid driver.
Its not finished yet, I don't know if it will really help anyone and in the worst case scenarios it seems to double FPS. That might sound impressive, but its really not.
I'm talking if you get 1FPS this driver should be able to pull off 2FPS. The 4500 IGPUs are real turds (mostly because of sloppy driver coding I'd expect) I'm just trying to come up with one 'golden' driver that eeks every bit of performance out that can be mustered. Nevermind - I got it to work by doing a 'Have disk.' Install using the /Drivers folder of your package, and then after I rebooted I was able to run the setup exe.
Might want to document that if anybody else has this issue. My WEI numbers haven't gone up, so I can't tell it's working, but unfortunately, Worms Revolution (which, as far as I can tell, requires OpenGL 2.1, but would otherwise give decent performance on this chipset) still won't render certain necessary objects. How hard is it to fix something like this?
Silent hill Even if you have big computer with huge amounts of RAM and CPU power you might not be able to play demanding 3D games if you have an Intel 900 GMA graphics with 192 MB of memory or 950 GMA graphics with 256 MB of memory. Memory is only one thing, there are few more things that your graphic chip or graphic card must have.
