'Wayne Kerr' wrote in message news:[email protected] honestly old OnDigital set top boxes are passed their best before date, they are very slow at changing channels and even slower when changing to QAM16. The remote controls are badly made. Some makes can't manage QAM16 at all which is necessary for all the BBC channels & Sky News. It's best to see what Comet, Curries (sorry Currys & I'll have a chicken madras), Dixons etc. Have to offer. Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.

The Grundig has 2 scarts and loopthrough. Then searchon Grundig and choose television. This is the one that was supplied to a person I know who was asking me for info on the Goodmans.
I set it up today and I must admit, it seems to work well. It is very small and you can get a remote extender for it, which is nice if you want to hide the box. I must also admit, I was impressed with the speed of the teletext on the box and also the speed it changes channels, compared with the old ondigital boxes. Still got a few problems with fast moving images.
The reason they supplied this one was because they had no goodmans left. Dave E, 14:08 น. Stephen Muir wrote: I can not see Pace doing that, Pace got enough fiancial problems as it is.
If they start selling a box that cost 3 times as much as the DTVA and drop the DTVA, they would get less sales. I think they will keep selling the DTVA. I'm as surprised as you; they seem to be designed for entirely different segments of the market. I am not surprised at all, companies do this sort of thing now and again, but I certainly do not think Pace would do it at the moment. The set top box market is still small.

I was speaking to a salesperson who has been there for yearsand who seems to be pretty senior. Hmm, that doesn't sound good. But he was very insistent that it had been discontinued, and they would be getting no more, but would be stocking the PVR when it becomes available. If he is right, it seems a strange for them to discontinue the box, since the PVR hardly seems to fill the same market segment, and is so much more expensive. As you say, wait and see. Rob S, 8:19 น.
